It's been 25 years (Friday) since the Challenger exploded during take off for space with what would have been the first teacher to enter the Final Frontier.
Crazy to think there are grown adults that weren't even born when this occurred. Much like those who experienced the Kennedy assassinations, before I was born, I recall exactly the time and place I was when this occurred.
We were watching the event unfold live in 2nd period French class at Tempe High. We all carelessly watch the countdown and seconds of airtime while we passed notes, held private corner conversations, or doodled on the cover of our notebooks. Then suddenly, every one of us were silent and stunned with complete disbelief.
Rubbing our eyes and dazed - we witnessed a tragedy. Almost immediately after watching the catastrophy, the loudspeaker came on and announced what we already knew.
It was powerful for me, for some reason. It always affected me - the idea of soaring for that dream and then in an instant - gone - nothing. No fanfare, no goodbye, no closure. Still amazes me, 25 years later.

guilt
It's interesting how when you feel guilty for something, everything that is said or mentioned feels as though it's pointed right at you when all along it's your conscience at work...the tell-tale heart affect? Is that already taken cause if not, I'm going to coin it! LOL!
After months of feeling bad about a situation, that was personal for me, everything I watched on television or heard on the radio just seemed to amplify my issue. It's amazing how surrounded I was with the information I needed and just didn't seem to want to hear it.
It's those little universal tells that make you wonder just how dynamic the world works - I understand that it's the mind making things connect - sort of like Dark Side of the Moon and Oz but still - it's pretty freaking cool when it happens - just like DSotM and WoZ.

Iron Girl - babeee
So I have been doing Boot Camp (on/off) since May. Quite frankly, my booty has been camping on this chair a little long so I am stiff again from FRIDAY'S workout! Ridiculous...anyway, we have a race in November on the 14th: Aflac Iron Girl in Tempe, AZ.
I am looking forward to it. It's a 10 mile or 5K - since I took the summer off I am only going for the 5K (3+ miles). I am hoping it will add to my confidence with my running skills. I have improved SO much but that doesn't say SO much considering I really SUCKED it up at running prior to my boot camp soiree.
However, I have begun to really enjoy it and do plan on making this 5K the first of many 5Ks, 10 Miles, 1/2 Marathons, and Marathons to come. I would like to be ready for the 1/2 when PF Chang comes to town but I truly do not know if I will be ready in time. I'll play it day by day and see where we end up.
I am so excited!! YAY!
